Frequently asked questions
Will it overwrite meta titles I set by hand?
Yes — regeneration overwrites the selected fields for every record. That is why the module asks for confirmation before it starts and reminds you to back up your database. To keep your handwritten meta data, switch "Regenerate meta titles" off and regenerate the URLs only.
Will changing URLs hurt my Google rankings?
Changing
link_rewrite changes the product page address. On an established shop we recommend running the regeneration on a staging copy first and setting up 301 redirects from the old addresses afterwards. The module deliberately never touches the root category or the "Home" category, so your shop structure stays intact.Does it work with categories?
Yes. A separate button regenerates category meta titles and URLs following exactly the same rules. The root and "Home" categories are always skipped.
Which PrestaShop versions are supported?
PrestaShop 1.7.x, 8.x and 9.x, on PHP 7.1 up to 8.4.
